Award Presentation - November 2011

Charles Jacob, Chairman - Warwick Township Board of Supervisors, received the John Stuchell Fisher Award at a noon time ceremony in the Capitol Complex. This award is given by the Pennsylvania Archaeology Council in recognition of local, state and national officials who contribute to the promotion and understanding of archaeology in Pennsylvania. He was presented the award by Dr. Cathy Spohn of the Pennsylvania Archaeological

Council. Bothe are members of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology John Shrader Chapter 21 headquartered at Joanna Furnace.

Charles also received a Citation recognizing his contribution to archaeology and historic preservation in Southeast Pennsylvania from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives which was presented by Representative Tim Hennessey.
The West Chester Social Security Administration Office (located at 1101 West Chester Pk. West Chester, PA 19382) is trying to increase public awareness of the many online services available at the agency web site. For example, people can now file for Retirement, Spouses, Medicare or Disability benefits online, or they can request a statement of their benefits or request a replacement Medicare card among several other services. The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Chester County on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 to help residents and business owners with their recovery from the recent storms and flooding. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to answer questions about low interest rate loans. Click here for further information.
Volunteers needed!

Warwick Township has been chosen to participate in the Chester Co. Town Walks in 2012. The walk will be held in St. Peters Village on June 28. Volunteers are needed as guides, assistants with groups, and help with the car parking. Over 300 people usually attend Town Walks. Attention Property Owners
Property owners in Warwick who question the appraised value of their property might consider contacting the Chester County Assessment Office to file an appeal in an attempt to obtain the correct appraised value. Following are instructions from the Assessment Office on how to do this:

"Notice Of Intention Of Appeal", and other forms may be obtained in one of three ways:
• Calling the Assessment Office at 610-344-6105
• Visiting the office 313 W. Market St., Suite 4202, West Chester, PA. 19382.
• Go to the Assessment Office website and download the form by clicking on the appropriate link:

Forms must be PRINTED, completed and returned to the Assessment Office by the appropriate filing date.
PennDOT Urges Motorists to Call 1 800-FIX-ROAD to Report Potholes on State Roads

The hot-line may be used to report any maintenance concern on state roads such as potholes, deer removal or signage issues. Callers should be as specific as possible when reporting these events such as, offering a description of the road and any familiar landmarks that will help PennDOT find the problem area.
